Pilot Project

Swan's Island is an unbridged island located in Downeast Maine, not far from Acadia National Park. Swan's Island First Aid (SIFA) is launching a pilot project Summer 2026 to create a free part-time first aid station staffed by volunteer health professionals. SIFA is an offshoot of a community health needs assessment to improve the island's access to health care and reduce demand for off-island emergency transport. We are currently reviewing applications for the 2026 launch and eager to work with visiting health care providers and community members to improve the health of our remote maritime community!
